Mission

Our Mission

To break through health limitations and uncover the creative potential in teens and young adults with Hematology, Oncology, Immunology, and Rheumatology disorders. To foster a common bond through the arts for chronically ill individuals and their families.

Our Philosophy

At C.H.O.I.R. Stars, we believe that despite a person’s physical limitations, there are no limits to their creative potential. We believe in making anything a camper at C.H.O.I.R. Stars wants to do possible. Our goal is to make sure each camper has enough encouragement and time to express themselves through our art, dance, music, theatre, and writing classes.

We believe in providing a place at C.H.O.I.R. Stars, where our campers can pursue their passion despite the obstacles and challenges that they face every day. We understand and appreciate each camper’s unique story and journey while living with their disorder, and how that journey shapes their lives. At the same time, we believe that campers who have these disorders can still find enjoyment and fulfillment in the unique pursuit of self-expression through the arts. We want our campers to discover something meaningful through fun and therapeutic classes that they will take back with them and use in their daily lives.

Too many times people who have health conditions are told that they can’t do something, that they can’t pursue an interest. Here at C.H.O.I.R. Stars we believe that our campers can and should pursue their interests to their fullest potential. After all, this camp is not about what a teen with a disorder can’t do, but rather opening up the doors to what they can do.

In service of teens that live with chronic illness, C.H.O.I.R. Stars provides a unique camp experience that explores the possibilities of what can be done despite limitations.
