Workshops

C.H.O.I.R. Stars offers teens with hematological, oncological, immunological, and rheumatological disorders experiences in five different areas of creative and performing art. Each area is instructed by teachers who are experienced in their field, as well as experienced in working with teens. Workshops will offer classes that explore the variety of disciplines that will enrich the camper’s experience. The diversity of each program is meant to encourage experimentation and foster personal growth.

This September we will be holding a Saturday theatre workshop for teens ages 13-18. Our theatre classes encourage teens to step outside their comfort zone and step onto their own personal stage. Our goal is to have our young actors become comfortable with themselves and their interactions with others as they see the world through another character’s eyes. Teens will develop skills over the week that will provide them thorough preparation for any theatre audition they wish to partake in after leaving camp.

The theatre courses will not only focus on acting skills, but participants will also be encouraged to expand memorization skills. This will be accomplished through classes that will consist of theatre games, small skits, and rehearsing of monologues. Our teachers have a strong personal involvement in theatre and will share their passion for this art form with all participants. Teens will be encouraged to expand their imaginations to create a space of play out of an ordinary room.

The exploration of theatre is a great way to express emotions and thoughts in a safe atmosphere. Teens will be asked to challenge and encourage one another as they work towards a common goal. Registration will be available soon!
